A small difference

Sharon is a volunteer at the London Jesus Centre for the Community Feast events, which happen once a month on a Saturday. She tells us why she volunteers and what she likes about it:

“I first started volunteering because I felt I wanted to help people who were in need of a little support at this particular time in their life. I thought helping to provide a meal and someone to talk to might make a small difference.

Once a month I get the opportunity to spend time with some wonderful, intelligent, funny and enlightened people who happen to be homeless at the moment.

I had no idea at the time how much I would benefit from the experience. Once a month I get the opportunity to spend time with some wonderful, intelligent, funny and enlightened people who happen to be homeless at the moment. Volunteering has taught me to appreciate so many things and not to worry or moan about the small stuff.

Lastly I have become part of an amazing team of volunteers. I would encourage others to join us, we have a wonderful time and so much fun.”
